success, finally, at the sports day

(If you start back on the other clips;big race day;sack race. It will make more sense, they are just down the page)

So after all the setbacks, falling in his 20m dash, collapsing in a heap with the sack race, he overcomes his personal and physical obstacles. His final race of the day, could I watch after all that happened. What hopes could I have for him now. Should I lower my expectations or will him to take hold of this race, give it all he has, put behind him the trips and falls. Would he rise above it all. It got no easier, now he has to run with a ball, bounce on a space hopper and balance a bean bag on his head as he runs. How insurmountable would this be, what kind of mountain did he have to climb in his head, would he be psyched out or would he get into that zone.We waited, we watched and we....rejoiced. What a kid, after those earlier setbacks, he put all he had into his race. He showed that our failures, mistakes, our falls have to be put in the past. We pick ourselves up and we race, the goal is down that track, its in the future and not our past.

This day made me proud of my kid because he did not give up.

if you follow my blogs you would have seen what happened when Fred had his first race in his first ever sports day. It did not go so well but he showed courage and grit and got up and finished. What do they say 'its the taking part that matters'. well every failure makes you stronger, you learn from your mistakes and to not trust the trainers your dad supplied. Well Fred stepped up again, this time the sack race, possibly more technical than running but hey, every kid loves to jump.

so the day had come, Fredrik"s first ever sports day,we waited in anticipation, watched on by thousands of parents and his fellow team mates and competitors. This was the big one, points in the balance, what could he muster. The tension mounted before the starters gun, years (5 in total) of preparation and hard work, the daily schedules, the gym work, the personal coaches, the psychological prep and the running shoes that let us down...next year we take spikes.
